The Best Part of Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from The Master's House Happy Thanksgiving from The Master's House

Is the pie, the stuffing or the cranberry sauce the best part of Thanksgiving?  How about the day off of work or Thanksgiving break for kids and teachers?  Without a doubt, it's the freedom to go off your diet and feel perfectly justified in doing so!  That has to be it, right?

With all the things to be thankful for, on this day, the best part of Thanksgiving is that this day evokes the reflection of all the ways Jesus has worked in our lives.

You can't help but look back throughout the year and reminisce on how or when Jesus stepped in and...

    • provided,
    • held His hand out in love when no one else was around,
    • put His arms around you when felt unloveable,
    • spared you from disaster,
    • spared you from yourself (more often than not),
    • taught you how to walk righteously,
    • encouraged your faith,
    • encouraged you to keep going and fight the good fight,
    • tried your faith to mold you,
    • and the list can go on and on.

Jesus is the best part of Thanksgiving and without Him intervening in our lives this time of season wouldn't look as bright and as hopeful as it does right now.

There were 10 men that were lepers and when the cried out to Jesus to have mercy on them, Jesus healed them by their faith!

But only 1 turned around and yelled back to
thank Jesus and he ran and fell down at His feet!

Maybe the other 9 were too busy enjoying the healing that they forgot to thank the Healer.  Maybe they were still a little bitter because they felt they never should have had lepr
osy to begin with.  Whatever their reason, help us remember the Healer that is healing EVERY part of our lives.

No matter if we are faced with hardship, let us rejoice in our trial!

12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

1 Peter 4:12-13

Or if we are rejoicing in our healing, let us remember the One that provided that healing!

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

Luke 17:15-19 (KJV)
