As humans, we tend to worry a lot about our needs.
From the food we eat to the clothes we wear and the shelter we have, we are constantly concerned about what we will have tomorrow.
But as Christians, we have a promise from God that He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory.
In this sermon, we will explore that promise in more detail and look at why we can trust in God's provision because He has commanded the ravens and even the widows of this world.
The promise that God will supply our needs comes from Philippians 4:19 where Paul says, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."
This promise is not just for those in the past, but it is for us today as well. When we trust in God's promise, we can experience true peace and contentment, knowing that He will provide for us.
When we look at God's miraculous provisions, Elijah's story of the widow shows us something deeper: the power of obedience to God's commands and, the fact that when God commanded the widow and the raven to sustain Elijah - they obeyed.
1 Kings 17 shows us that our obedience to God can lead to amazing blessings, even more so when it is manifested in the hardest of times.
The widow gave Elijah her last meal before God provided the miraculous abundance which would sustain her for many days.
She could have held onto that last meal, just as most of us would have done in her situation and regretted it later.
Her obedient heart touched God's heart.
She trusted God!
A God she didn't know and didn't worship, yet she trusted!
What is our takeaway? Trust God; He will supply your needs, even from the most unusual places. He supplied Elijah's needs, He supplied the widow's needs, and He will supply your needs!
The Lord Jesus Christ is alive and well today, and able to do all things. All power is given Him, and through His name, we are forgiven, and through the shedding of His blood our sins are remitted, and that His Word stands as true today as it did 2000 years ago. Repentance of one's sins, water baptism in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and being baptized with the Holy Ghost is His divine specific plan of salvation.
